Apple trees are everywhere. Apples are actually one of the easiest fruit trees to grow and are also one of the most popular. In fact, they are cultivated worldwide and are the most widely grown species. They are easy to grow, provide delicious fruits and create a wonderful display in the garden or orchard. Moreover, thanks to them we have apples, edible fruits produced by these trees. How to grow apple trees and how does Petiole Pro can help with this process? Today, we’ll focus on this aspect in detail.

Leaf Area Measurement of Apple Trees

We have already written about the possible use of Petiole Pro to measure apple tree leaves. At the same time, we would like to demonstrate how we measured these plant traits by ourselves.

We decided to measure an area of its leaf and estimate a level of chlorophyll in a leaf. We obtained the next results:

  • Estimated time of measurement: less than a minute
  • An apple tree leaf area: 6,8 square centimetres
  • Dark green colour index: 0,52

Video of Leaf Area Measurement

Also, we have a video about leaf area measurement (however, for pear leaves, not apple tree leaves):

What type of apple is on the logo of the international company Apple? Or, for example, what variety of apples had the Tree of Knowledge? Finally, which apple is Sir Isaac Newton’s apple?

Measuring an apple leaf surface area we cannot answer these questions (unfortunately!). But at least, we can help to get more accurate data about apple trees for over 8 000 types of apples on our planet. However, no clues on topics interesting for us… If you have any extra information about our questions without answers, then, please, let us know :)
